Anti-fraud

Insurance fraud remains a serious issue for the industry despite the pooling and interrogation of UK general insurance data.

The latest Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) figures indicate that undetected general insurance fraud is running at a staggering £2.1 billion per year - adding £50 a year, on average, to every policyholder's costs.

State-of-the-art anti-fraud strategy

An insurance client with motor and household claims of about £259m per year was concerned that its lack of up-to-date anti-fraud procedures left it vulnerable to highly organised criminal gangs and fraudsters.

Like many insurance companies, it relied heavily on the honesty (and memory) of its proposers, the use of unsophisticated 'scorecarding techniques' at new claim stage and the skills or sheer luck of its claims handling staff.

CWMC was called in to develop and implement a state-of-the-art general insurance anti-fraud strategy, which included setting up a dedicated anti-fraud unit and implementing software solutions such as CUE and Hunter.

CWMC has also worked with the ABI/Insurance Fraud Bureau in the establishment of the IFB's policies and procedures. To discuss, in confidence, how we may be able to help you, please call CWMC today.
